Sharda was raised on a farm and had the run of the woods of southern Indiana until she attended Indiana University School of Music.

Now she gives private lessons in piano and guitar in a small town in east Texas; and still finds time to wander the woods and fields in search of wild edibles, or to just "commune with Mama."
