Good Luck Litany or Anything Can Be Good Luck
if We Say So
It is good luck, of course, to see a rainbow, especially
a double rainbow
It is good luck to see the sun shine on autumn trees against a black
cloud
It is always good luck to watch the sunrise
It is good luck to see a hawk soar, especially in January light
and good luck to watch a flock of birds turn as one in the air
It is good luck to see bright red winterberries
It is good luck when a cat chooses to sit on your lap
and good luck when a dog lies on your feet
It is good luck to catch a falling leaf in your hand
and good luck to catch a snowflake on your tongue
It is good luck to watch the stars appear
and good luck when the moon is a young crescent and Venus is near
It is good luck to wake in the small hours and see the waning moon
good luck to glimpse the wafer moon in a bright blue sky
It is good luck to see the color of autumn leaves by full moon light
It is good luck to see the first snowdrop or crocus or the first clump
of onion grass
It is good luck to hear spring peepers
and good luck to see the imprint of deer where they slept in meadow
grass
It is good luck to see fireflies
It is good luck to find smooth sea glass
and good luck to find round black stones and stones that are half
black, half grey
It is always good luck to find feathers, especially blue ones
It is good luck when small birds nest over your door
and good luck when snakes winter under your steps |
