Assyrian scribes. The one on the right holds a clay tablet in his left hand and, rather awkwardly, inscribes it with a stylus. The other works with a brush on skin or papyrus. Wall painting from Tell'Ahmar, ancient Til-Barship. Around late eighth century BCE.
